For #IGTravelthursday I'm going to post a few images that have been languishing on my phone. This is #sighisoara, inside the medieval city center, which has been virtually unchanged since a band of - get this - 'Teutonic Knights' - were invited by the Arpad (Hungarian) kings to settle here and defend the borders of Transylvania from a series of repeated Mongol invasions led by the sons of Genghis Khan.
In addition to being ridiculously gorgeous - and notorious as the birthplace of Vlad Tepes (the Impaler), Sighisoara has amazing food and the old city is still home to locals (unlike the medieval centers of most cities in Europe). So you can hear school kids screeching and laughing while you take in the sights
